James Renwick, III

Obituary of James S. Renwick, III

Mr. James S. Renwick, III passed from this life to the next on Monday October the 16th, 2023. James was born June 15th, 1947, in Newberry South Carolina to James S. Renwick Jr and Virginia Corley Renwick. James served his country well in the United States Army and completed tours in Thailand and Panama. After being discharged from military life, he settled in Columbia and met his wife, Kay. During the next 20 years, James and Kay raised their girls in Lexington and attended St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church where James actively served and volunteered as Sunday School superintendent and usher. After divorcing, James and Kay worked diligently to support both April and Ginger together in family moments – graduations, wedding and Christmas were celebrated together. James was a man of few words but when he spoke, you knew he felt it was important and to listen. He cared deeply for those in the community in which he lived.

He leaves behind his former wife and friend Kay T. Renwick; daughters and sons-in-law, April and Will Grady, Ginger and John P. George and his goddaughter, Karen Jones. James is also survived by his younger sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Samuel Price; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Linda Renwick, George and LuAnne Renwick. His legacy carries on through his six grandchildren - Ari Grady, Caedmon Grady, Preston George, Ava George, Gena George and Addy George. He is survived by his niece, Renwick Shealy and by his two nephews - Chaplain Captain Gill Price and Lt. Col Samuel M ‘Macky’ Price III, Commander, 1st Battalion, 212th Aviation Regiment.

While we mourn our loss of a man who loved deeply, we also look forward to celebrating his life and legacy with those who knew him. The family will gather to receive friends on Friday October 27, 2023, at 1PM at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Lexington, SC. The funeral service will follow at 2PM.
