Obituary of Linda Nicholson Howington

Linda Nicholson Howington went to eternal rest to her Lord and Savior on October 4, 2023. She was 64 years old.

Linda is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bennie and Carrie Ellisor; paternal grandparents, Enoch Nicolson and Viola Mills; parents, Enoch “Jim” Nicholson and Mazzie Nicholson; sister, Bonnie Overstreet; grandson, Lukas; and great granddaughter, Steffy. She is survived by her daughters, Christy Cochran and Lenna Briggs; grandchildren, Victoria, Abbygail, James, Brooklyn, Brian, and Corbin; nephew, Steven House; and her special cousin, DeeDee Sampson. She is also survived by her dogs, Moosey and Blue, who she cherished deeply.

Linda was a proud graduate of Lower Richland High School, class of 1976. She was a lifelong member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She also was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She worked with Defender Services for 36 years. Linda loved to go to the mountains and took a special trip to Maggie Valley every year. She loved farming, and especially loved her chickens and watching her deer. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and everyone who met her loved her and she loved them.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Heart of Hospice, who took excellent care of Linda.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to help with Linda’s final expenses.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 9th from 6pm – 8pm at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14th at 3pm at Pine Bluff Church with a reception to follow.
