Drue, my lovely Drue - you were a true and truthful friend through some hard, lonely times, that were brightened and made good by the brilliant light that shone out of you. Truly beautiful people such as you are beautiful because their beauty radiates from inside of them and out onto the world. Like me, you never met a steak that you didn't like, and our Friday night dinners during my short stay in Columbia were precious and important. We solved the problems of the world over those dinners, from minority rights through the ways in which to eradicate extreme poverty (eradicate extreme wealth, of course) to how to have and AIDS-free world through to the elimination of war and beyond. You showed me new and enlightening ways of seeing and understanding the world we live in. To quote one of our mutually favorite novelists, George Eliot, 'I am better for having known you.' Sleep deeply and sweetly my beautiful friend; you sit forever on my shoulder.

Drue was a beloved and loyal host to the Anita Hill Celebration, a remembrance of Professor Hill University of Oklahoma Law Professor Anita Hill who testified at the all male, all white confirmation hearings of then-U.S. Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. As our remembrance celebration grew over 31 years, so did Drue's contributions. We all loved her and will miss her greatly. Barbara
Cheers to a life well-lived! (think of this as a toast since there is no wine glass in the images available)

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of this amazing colleague who I looked forward to working with—as an affiliate of WGST at USC. I am grateful for her legacy and all that she has done to make this world a more humane and empowering place for all of us. My condolences are with her family.
