Obituary of Roshanbanu Vallimohamed

Roshanbanu Sadrudin Vallimohamed passed away after a sudden illness on December 30th, 2022.  She was predeceased by her loving husband of 37 years, Sadrudin Ladha Vallimohamed, son Rahim, and grandson Zain.  

Roshan was born in Kutch, India in 1940, to her parents Sherali and Kulsum. She married in 1961 and had two children while living in Uganda, son Shaffin and daughter Shahenil.  After Idi Amin came to power in Uganda, Sadrudin and Roshan became refugees, initially moving to Vienna, Austria in 1972.  They received permission to immigrate to the United States in 1973, choosing to settle in Columbia, SC.  They welcomed a second son, Rahim, in 1974.  

Roshan worked for Richland School District 1 and later started a business with her husband in 1989.  

Roshan was an involved churchgoer and member of her community, attending Ismaili mosque in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and having a large number of close friends within the Columbia area.  

She is survived by her son, Shaffin (Marina) Valimohamed, Shahenil (Joseph) Grealish, grandchildren Arslan (Valimohamed), Samantha and Abigail (Grealish), and Desiree Adams.

Her funeral will be on Thursday, January 5th at 2 pm at Thompson Funeral Homes on Leesburg Rd with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park immediately after.
