Obituary of Rebecca Hatfield

Rebecca “Becky” Hatfield passed away on September 10, 2022. She was 60 years old.

Becky was born on May 20, 1962 in Columbia, SC, to Virginia Godshall and the late Prentice Taylor. She loved her family, was proud of her two daughters, and was a very proud grandma.

Becky was a good friend; she was welcoming with a strong sense of Southern hospitality and a terrific sense of humor. She could make anyone laugh.

She is remembered for her love of music and her love of her cats, including all the neighborhood strays. In her youth, she was an accomplished swimmer and participated in horseback riding competitions, winning many ribbons and trophies.

Becky is predeceased by her father, Prentice Taylor and stepfather, Rupert A. Godshall, Jr.

She is survived by her loving mother, Virginia Godshall; stepmother, Betty Taylor; daughters, Amanda “Ava” Meena (Carson) and Abigail Hatfield; siblings, Jennifer Taylor, Maria Cantwell, John Miner (Tina), Rupert “Rad” A. Godshall III; boyfriend, Chip Dawson; two grandchildren, Calahan and Monroe Meena; and numerous other family members. She will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Mill Creek UMC, 1041 Old Garner's Ferry Road, Columbia 29209.
