Carolyn Harrelson

Obituary of Carolyn Mae Harrelson

Funeral service for Carolyn Mae Harrelson, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2022, at Gantt Street Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Gene Rowell.  Interment will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Swansea.  The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Mrs. Harrelson, fondly known as “Granny” by her family and friends was born in Swansea and was the widow of William P. Harrelson “Papa” who passed away, March 25, 2013.  The couple had been married 52 years at that time.

Granny was an active member of Gantt Street Baptist Church in Cayce.

Jesus and music were two of her passions.  If you were around her for very long, Granny would tell you about the Lord and her church.

In addition to singing in the choir, she often sang specials for the services, and was probably known best for “All because of God’s Amazing Grace”.  Even at home, if you were to walk in unannounced, you would often hear her playing the piano and singing loudly about her Lord.

The Lord used her in recent years even in a shut-in capacity to share the gospel with medical personnel from Doctors to EMT’s, now because of that Amazing Grace she sung about and shared, she can see Him, face to face.

Another passion of Granny’s was her children, 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren whose pictures adorn the walls of various rooms at the house.

Granny is finally home, and all is truly well with her soul.  She is survived by her daughters, Ronda Starr (Tim) and Gina Sharpe (Lee), all of Swansea and her sons, Charles Harrelson (Andi) of West Columbia and Curtis (April) of Duncan;   grandchildren, Holli Cinamon (Brian), Kristin Starr, Dylan Sharpe (Shelby), Breanna Charlton (Brandon), Morgan, Kendall, Avery, Miller and Berkley Harrelson, Kenneth, Ruby, Eben and Wade Harrelson; great-grandchildren, Ford and Jude Cinamon, Brandon Jr, Brantlee and Bradley Charlton,
