Obituary of Mary Ruth Britt

Mary Ruth Britt, 76, wife of Ronald E. Britt, passed away on Tuesday, June 28^th, 2022 after a courageous battle with dementia. She is now rejoicing with her Lord and Savior along with her beloved sister and Mother.

Born on Christmas Eve, December 24^th, 1945 in Sumter, SC, she is the youngest daughter of the late Milo Land and Annie Adele Mellette Land. Mary Ruth was a proud Army wife and Registered Nurse for more than 40 years. She was a member of Kittiwake Baptist Church and loved listening to the choir, her church friends and especially her pastor, Tim Sieberhagen.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, who lovingly called her “Bump”; her four children, Kenneth Britt (Stephanie), Steven Britt, Kevin Britt and Melissa Ashley; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her older brother, Harvin Land (Bobbie), 3 Sister-in-Laws and a Brother-in-Law, and many loved nieces and nephews.

Awaiting her arrival in Heaven, along with her Mother and Father, is her sister, Iola Land Seelbinder, who was her best friend; as well as Charles Seelbinder, Iola’s husband; and her much loved cat, Tiko.

The family will receive friends and family from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, June 30^th, at Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington, SC. A graveside service will be at Woodridge Memorial Park on Friday, July 1^st, in the gazebo at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lexington County Animal Services. A place for donations will be available at the visitation and funeral.
