Obituary of Frances Almodovar Mons

Frances Almodovar Mons, 89, of Columbia, SC, our most beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, family member, and friend passed away on March 30, 2022, and the family is deeply saddened.

Frances Almodovar Mons was born on December 21, 1932, to Juan Almodovar and Lucia Baez Gutierrez in Mayagüez, PR. Frances resided with her children in Conyers GA. She served in the United States Women’s Army Corp. She retired from AAFES after over 25 years of service. All who knew Frances, knew that she was kind and loving and brought joy to all her family and friends. Frances was married to Leo Mons (deceased) for 54 years.

Frances is survived by her children, Leslie Mons of Springfield, GA, Letitia Campbell (Douglas) of Tumwater, WA, Jesse Mons (deceased), Judith Mons-Burgess (Henry, deceased) of Conyers, GA, Nathaniel Mons of Atlanta, GA, and Angela Mons-Nesmith (John) of Conyers, GA; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Services for Mrs. Frances Almodovar Mons will be on Thursday, April 7, 2022, with full military honors at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 10:00am.  Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park is assisting the family.
