Obituary of Charles Earl Norton

Graveside services for Charles Earl Norton, 87, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Celestial Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Norton passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022. Born in West Columbia, SC, he was the youngest son of the late Lewis Evans Norton and Tranny Shirey Norton.

Mr. Norton found joy in his granddaughters, Sara Norton and Ashley Poston. He loved beach music and old cars, but especially the ‘55 and ‘57 Chevy Bel-Airs, dice hanging from the rear view mirror, the smell of leather and sunny days with the windows rolled down. He drowned a worm at the lake on occasion with a few cold ones in the cooler. He was a man who backflipped off the dock and creatively engineered inventions that made life maybe not easier, but more exciting. Most of all, he was a man who loved his family with the kind of light that made you feel warm and appreciated. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church Leesville. 

Surviving are his wife, Iris Collins Norton; his brother, Vernon Norton; daughter, Cheryl Poston (Randy); son, Kevin Norton (Beth); granddaughters, Sara Norton and Ashley Poston; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Norton was predeceased by his brother, Delmas Norton; and his sisters, Ermalee Day, Mildred Poole, Hazel Perry.
