Josephine "Jo" Allison

Obituary of Josephine "Jo" Strickland Allison

Josephine “Jo” Strickland Allison, 77, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. She was born on February 26, 1944, to the late Sara Causey in Nichols, SC.

She moved to Columbia to attend nursing school at Baptist Hospital. It was around that time she met the love of her life, Ed, and they began their life together. Jo loved the Lord and was very active in her church. She was a long-time member of Temple and Kilbourne Park Baptist Churches, where she served on numerous committees. She retired from BB&T Boyle-Vaughan Insurance after a long and successful career in the insurance industry. Jo was also very active in the Alpha Alpha Master Chapter of Town & Country City Council of Beta Sigma Phi, an international sorority. She held many council and chapter offices throughout her years of service, and she received the honor of becoming an Alpha Omega. She cherished all the times with her sorority sisters, and loved all of them dearly. In addition to her sorority, she was a dedicated member of the Red Hat Honeys, where she gained many life-long friendships.

There’s nothing she loved more than a good game of cards, spending time with her family, and her Maltipoo, Railey.

In addition to her mother, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Ed Allison; and her brother, Frank Strickland. She is survived by her daughter, Leslee Allison; son Eddie Allison and his wife, Dawn; grandson, Aaron Allison, and his wife, Kelsey; brothers, Randy Strickland and his wife, Patsy, and Bobby Strickland and his wife, Mary; and many nieces and nephews who she loved very much.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at 2:30pm at Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Smoak officiating.
