Obituary of Shawn J. Kyzer

Shawn J. Kyzer, of Leesville, SC, passed away January 16, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born to Karen and Raymond Kyzer of Cayce, SC on June 15, 1966. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Shawn is survived by his wife of 15 years, Arlene Kyzer; his sister, Shannan Kyzer; and numerous cousins and extended family.

Shawn Kyzer dedicated his life to serving his country and community. He joined the SC National Guard when he graduated high school in 1984, and served proudly for 22 years. His passions were Arlene, NASCAR, Fords, westerns, steak and potatoes, guns, classic country music, cold beer, and singing. He was known as a brilliant mechanic and his metal and woodworking skills were unmatched. He had a quick wit and could tell jokes like no other. Shawn enjoyed life to the fullest, and he will be missed terribly.

A service for Shawn Kyzer will be held at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Rd., Lexington, SC, on Saturday January 22, 2022 at 11:00am. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service. Burial, with full military honors, will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on January 26, 2022 at 1:00pm.
