Obituary of Sally D. Kalin

Sally D. Kalin, 77, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Lexington Medical Center. She was born February 15, 1944, in Tabor City, NC to the late Brice and Isabelle Watts. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert (Bob) S. Kalin, of Irmo, SC.

Sally was the last survivor of her 8 siblings whom she loved dearly: Pete Watts, Bill Watts, Jeannette Watts, Betty Miller, Estell Kemper, Lillie Mae Fowler, and Annie “Nell” Sizemore. 

Sally will be deeply missed by her two surviving children, son, Larry G. Kalin; and daughter, Cathy K. Payne. Sally treasured her children and embraced every movement with them. She deeply loved and touched the lives of her grandchildren: Henry A. Harrelson, John Ross Harrelson, Whitleigh Kalin, Sarah J. Harrelson, Jesse W. Harrelson, Grace M. Harrelson, and Jacob C. Harrelson. In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her oldest grandson, Dallas A. Kalin, but she will now give him a big hug and kiss from us all up in Heaven! Sally was blessed to get to know her first and only great grandson, Henry A. Harrelson, Jr. She especially loved her role as “Grandma/Great Grandma” to all these sweet children whom she treasured more than anything. 

Sally was a very dedicated wife and the most loving mother. Her love for her children and grandchildren was endless. Her unselfish love and dedication to her family will forever be felt and remembered.

Please join us in celebrating Sally’s life this Friday, December 17, 2021, at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd, Columbia, SC  29209. We will receive visitors at the funeral home beginning at 1:00pm, with the funeral service starting at 2:00pm. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
