Mark Carman

Obituary of Mark Alan Carman

Mark Alan Carman, 61, passed away at Richland Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 15, 2021. He was born on September 14, 1960 to Jack T. Carman and Margaret R. Carman. His grandparents were the late Talmadge and Dorothy Carman of Columbia, and the late Colie and Jennie Rowell of Orangeburg.

He was a graduate of Irmo High School and the University of South Carolina. Mark, a gentle person with a sense of humor, never lost his sense of awe, wonder and curiosity about all of God’s creation. He loved his family and animals (especially the ones who shared his heart, home and life). Always an avid reader, he also enjoyed music and American history.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret; his children, Christopher Carman of Alexandria, VA, Nicholas Carman and Natalie Carman, both of Columbia; and a sister, Amy Mahaffey (Tim) of Lexington. He was predeceased by a brother, David Bradley Carman.

The family wishes to express appreciation to all the people who have kept us in your prayers and to all the doctors and nurses who have cared from Mark over the time of his illness.

Memorials may be made to Carolina Wildlife Center, 5551 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
