Obituary of Loueen "Lou" D. O'Neal

Lou O’Neal, 80, died Tuesday, June 15, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband, Marion I. O’Neal, Jr. Lou was the daughter of the late Bud and Wilma Skaggs of Ansted, West Virginia.

Lou and Marion, a career Air Force veteran, lived in many places across the globe as they served our country. After retiring while at Shaw Air Force Base, they decided to call Columbia their home. Lou was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She found enjoyment when playing bingo, bowling, watching game shows, and doting on the grands.

Surviving Lou are her children, W. Ray O’Neal, Marion I. “Budie” O’Neal, III, and Tim (Susan) O’Neal; five grandchildren: Nolton (Courtney) O’Neal, Megan (Matt) Player, Colby (Tobae) O’Neal, Chandler O’Neal, and Lee O’Neal; and six great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Martha Lynne O’Neal; brothers, Larry and Merlin Skaggs; and great granddaughter, Hannah Lynne O’Neal.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC.

In memory of Lou being a breast cancer survivor, memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Society or flowers may be sent to Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC.
