Obituary of Cleveland "Jake" Jacobs

Cleveland “Jake” Jacobs, 96, of Columbia, SC, passed away on May 29, 2021. Born on March 5, 1925, in Gibson, NC, he was the son of Ed and Dela Cole Jacobs.

Jake served in the US Navy during WWII, then in the US Army during Vietnam, retiring in December 1969. The family returned to the Columbia area afterwards, having lived in both France and Germany during Jake’s military career.

On October 31, 1947, Jake married his sweetheart, Grace, in Dillon, SC. They were the proud parents of seven children: Tommie Jacobs, Larry Jacobs, Eddie Jacobs, Elaine Reed, Darlene Ashley, Jackie Snyder and Dan Jacobs; 14 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 1:00pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC.
