Obituary of James "Jimmy" Arnett Brown, Jr.

James “Jimmy” Arnett Brown, Jr. died on May 18, 2021 in Camden, South Carolina. He was 58.

Jimmy was born on December 23, 1962 in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey to his late parents, James and Mary Ann Brown.

Jimmy got to travel the world with his father’s military career, living in places including Germany, Italy, Maryland and Texas. He was a Special Olympics athlete competing in bowling as well as track and field.

In 1986 in Columbia, South Carolina, he became a member of the Babcock Center, attending their day program. Jimmy was a member of Pine Lakes Baptist Church in Hopkins, South Carolina where he loved attending Sunday School and singing hymns.

Jimmy loved listening to classic country music, bowling, playing Uno, dancing and going to the beach. He enjoyed cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Dallas Cowboys.

Jimmy is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Debbie & Joseph Campbell; his niece and nephew-in-law, Chaunte’ & Dave Turner, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 23 at 1pm in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel on Leesburg Road.  A memorial service will follow at the chapel at 2pm followed by graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
