Obituary of Lila H. Crouch Bell

Lila H. Crouch Bell, 86, of Lexington,  passed away peacefully Saturday, March 6, 2021. She was married to Bruce Victor Crouch for 21 years until his death in 1974. Many years later, she remarried the late Olin Bell for nine years.  She was born on April 27, 1934  in Columbia , South Carolina to the late John W. and Bessie Ballington Hickman . She retired from the SC State Department of Mental Health and was a member of First Baptist Church of Gilbert.

Later, she worked with the American Red Cross until she started a new adventure of watching her granddaughter, Brittney for four years until she started preschool. Lila was a wonderful mother and loved being with her family. She enjoyed watching golf on TV and was a good southern cook no measurements needed. She made awesome M&M cookies, pound cakes and giblet gravy. She loved going to church, singing in the choir, studying the Word of God and sharing the Gospel with everyone she met. She was a kind spirited person and always made people feel special and loved.

She  will be remembered by her daughters; Vicki  Crapps (Weston ), Lois Cozart (Tommy) and JoAnn White (Bruce); six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two sisters.

A service of celebration and homecoming for Lila will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 12 noon in the Chapel at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her honor to a charity of your choice.
