Obituary of George M. Coker

George M. Coker, 93, of West Columbia, SC,  passed away December 16, 2020.  He was born on March 1, 1927 in Columbia (Olympia Community) to the late Isadore C. and Mary A. Coker.

George is survived by his wife of 73 years, Patricia Spotts Coker; sons, Mel Coker (Barbara) of Chapin and Randy Coker (Robin V.) of West Columbia.  Also surviving are three grandchildren: LtCol Adam Coker, Brandi Rodriguez and Kelly Hernandez. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ruth Coker, three brothers and two sisters.

George was an Army Veteran of World War II.  He was a long time member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church and a current member of Springdale Baptist Church. 

Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington. 
Entombment will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Springdale Baptist Church, West Columbia.
