Obituary of Peggy Jackson Ferguson

HOPKINS – A Celebration of Life service for Peggy Jackson Ferguson, 83, of Hopkins, will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Pilgrim’s Way Baptist Church, 6081 Old Leesburg Road, Hopkins, SC 29061. Pastor James Tincher will officiate. Burial in the church cemetery will follow the service. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, October 23, 2020 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family asks that those who attend the visitation or service wear a mask, to keep everyone safe.

Peggy Ferguson passed away October 19, 2020. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie Brazell and Alice Drawdy Brazell. Peggy was the former Pastor of Pilgrim’s Way Baptist Church in Hopkins, along with her late husband, Fergie Ferguson. They were the founders of the church in 1985, and grew the congregation for the next 32 years. In her younger years, Peggy also worked as a machinist in Olympia Mills in Columbia. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Peggy was a wonderful friend to everyone that she met. She was a devoted Christian, and loved her church family like her own.

Peggy is survived by her children; daughters, Victoria Ann Traylor (Robert) of Eastover, Robin Fogle (Pete) of Elgin, SC; son, Bruce Jackson (Gracie) of Hopkins; daughter, Denise Jackson of Hopkins; 3 brothers, Buck Brazell, Doug Brazell, and Clarence Brazell; many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a large and loving extended family. In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her loving husband of more than 20 years, Fergie Ferguson; daughter, Tina Marie Jackson; grandsons, Steven Bostic and Jeffery Fogle; and many brothers and sisters.
