Obituary of David Hume Pollard

David Hume Pollard, 90, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 9, 2020 in Columbia, SC. He was born on May 22, 1930 in Ludlow, Vermont to Henry Pollard Sr. and Lillie Bell (Hume) Pollard.

David attended Black River High School and shortly after, joined the United States Army, serving overseas in the Korean conflict.

Any one who knew him, knew his love of antiques, especially anything military related. He was one of the first vendors to have set up at the Newfane Flea Market. In the 60’s, he opened an antique museum on Valley St. in Springfield, VT, which was known as “Pollard Bros” Antiques, with his best friend and brother, James. He was a big man with an even bigger heart, always a smile for you and the time to talk with unending knowledge on anything you brought up from a full life lived.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon Pollard of Hopkins, SC; his sister, Linda Pelkey of Chester, VT; his children Cheryl (Mitch) Morse of Chester, VT, Barbara (Earl) Suber of Hopkins, SC, Leslie (Karen) Pollard of New Milford, CT, Heather (Chris) Olsen of Springfield, VT; his step-children Donna (Dawn) Wolin of Groveton, NH, Michael (Lori) LaValley of Cocoa, FL. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is pre-deceased by his parents; his brothers Henry Jr, James and Michael Pollard; his sister, Barbara Farnsworth; and his grand daughter, Elaine Pollard.

A graveside service with military honors to be held on his birthday, May 22, 2021, at Pleasant View Cemetery in Ludlow, VT.
