I just learned Dillard passed away. Very sorry for his loss. We met when he came for a massage and we became good friends. WOW, I lost my brother, Chuck , unexpectedly April 01,2020. Dillard was so kind and we shared a lot of good talks and laughter. God Bless each of you family and he talked a lot about his son. HUGS

Dillard was, and is, a true, forever friend. To me, he exemplified the perfect gentleman. Sincere, compassionate and fun to be around, Dillard would think outside the box and explore ideas in depth. He listened without judgement, asked important questions, and always gave you his full attention. I loved his positiveness, his groundedness, and the soft twinkle in his smile. I miss him, but know that he is happy and well in the place where he resides. Thank you, Dillard, for your kindness to all and your friendship with me.

My condolences to Dillard 's family and other friends. Dillard was/is, one of my dearest and trusted friends. We met in May of 1998 at our old meditation group, The SRF Columbia Meditation Circle. During the last 12 years the folks on this side of town began meeting at Dillard 's place, until the pandemic hit. We stayed in touch by phone through July. I was then stunned to hear of his sudden passing...! I shall miss him greatly in the material world. Spiritually, as another longtime SRF Meditation group member put it, "Let's continue meditating together at Dillard 's place in our hearts and minds." So be it. Namaste brother Dillard!

My Dad and I did a lot of goofing around when I was growing up. He would sneakily poke me in the ribs whenever he thought I wasn't looking just to get a rise out of me. This led to me developing a "spidey-sense" so that I was able to quickly react whenever he tried to tickle to poke me. On one occasion our wrestling led to him falling and breaking something, so after that we had to keep the wrestling and horsing around to seated positions only.
He raised me on Star Trek: The Next Generation when I was younger, and I would always love going to his place, eating hot dogs or frozen pizza (he never was much of a cook) and watching some TNG or other Star Trek movies. The show encapsulated a great deal of what Dillard valued in life, compassion and understand towards others, a sense of wonder at the universe, and a respect for science and scientific inquiry. During one of my last visits with him we put in an old VHS Star-Trek movie (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home) and everything felt right in the world again.
Another one of my first and favorite memories was when my Dad played the vinyl album of Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA. I remember when I was as young as 4 or 5 he would crank that album up and I would be happy to rock-out with my Dad. That album cover will forever be imprinted on my memory. He was a fan of music throughout his life and had me burn him some CD's when I was older, though I was perhaps less excited by some of his later music choices such as Enya or the Indigo girls.
And though I resented it when I was younger, he dragged me out to the Unitarian Church on Sundays which helped reinforce in me that sense of compassion and understanding for others that is a large part of who I am as a person today. So thanks Dillard for being a great Dad and making such a positive impact on me. You will be missed.
