Obituary of Moise Hall Perry

Moise Hall Perry of Gilbert went peacefully to her mansion in Heaven on Friday, July 31, 2020. A Celebration of her life will be held on August 5th at Thompson's Chapel, Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC. Visitation will be at 11am prior to the 12pm service. Chaplain Susan Culler will officiate. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Moise, 98, known to most as “Granny”, was retired from Richland County Detention Center where she worked for 20 years and attained marksmanship recognition. She was a devoted and compassionate volunteer for over 40 years for the Dorn Medical Center and nursing homes. She was a life member of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary where she served AMVETS Post 2 in various positions to include President and State Chaplain. Moise volunteered for many years with the Special Olympics. She was humbled to have received many awards for her years of service. Her love of pageantry led her to volunteer with the S.C. Angel of Beauty pageant for 20 years.  

Moise was born in Lucknow SC., near Bishopville, to Oliver James Hall and Minnie Lee Gardner Hall in 1922, and she attended St. Matthew United Methodist Church. She attended Asbury United Methodist Church often and was a member of Capitol View Baptist Church.  

Moise is survived by her son, Don W Perry, daughters, Becky Vining (Herman) and Teresa Taylor, 18 great grandchildren, 25 grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Dooley (Homer), her sons, Leslie Perry and Wayne Perry Sr. and two grandsons, Donnie Perry and Kip Perry.

A special thank you to MSA Hospice, especially Doris, Cheryl, Kellie, Aileen, Amanda, Betty, Melissa and Chaplains Susan Culler and Ken. You were all a blessing to Mom and our family. Heartfelt thanks to DeeDee Porter for staying with us night and day to help with Mom her last week.
