Obituary of Rheta Day

Rheta H. Day – ELGIN, SC  passed away peacefully at her home in Elgin SC on Sunday, December 22, 2019.  She was born on April 15, 1934 in Anderson SC.  She was the daughter of Ray W & Mary Frances Hurt.  She was a member of North Columbia Baptist Church and was retired from Richland County School District No2 after 23 years as a school bus driver.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R Day, Sr., her parents Ray W Hurt and Mary Frances Hurt as well as a sister, Edith Geiger.

She was a loving and dedicated wife for 38 years, a loving and devoted mother and step mother, grandmother of 20, great grandmother of 29 and great great grandmother of 6.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Marshall and Howard of Clinton SC, Marilynn (LYNN) Brown & Carlos of Elgin SC, Sandra Harr of Lexington SC, Pam Burris and Parrish of Shallotte NC, Donald R Day, Jr. of Lugoff, SC.  Also her step children, Mary Day Hardwick of Westminister SC,  Jewel Eller and spouse Dale of Westminister SC and Winford R Day of Claremont NC.  Also a sister Kathy Hurt Foster of Anderson SC.

The family will receive friends and family at North Columbia Baptist Church on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 10am – 12 noon with burial service immediately afterwards at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 7100 Garners Ferry Rd. Columbia, SC.
