Obituary of Robert M. Covert

Robert “Bob” Maurice Covert, 86, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away December 16th, 2019 at Agape Hospice in Lexington, South Carolina. He was born on December 6, 1933, in Springfield, Virginia to James and Leola “Myrtle” (Sullivan) Covert. Bob proudly served in the U.S. Navy retiring after 20 years. After Naval service, he worked and retired from the VA and the Civil Service on Fort Jackson. He was an amazing husband, a wonderful and thoughtful father and grandpa, and he would talk to anyone, anywhere, at any time, about anything. He was a talented wood worker; whose creations won many blue ribbons at the State Fair. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved fishing, hunting, camping, and boating. Bob will be missed by those he loved and those that love him.

Robert will be forever remembered by his children, Ron Covert (Jane), Terri Covert, Pam Covert (George), and Candace Hayes (David), and his beloved grandchildren, Melissa Neal (Glen), Ryan Covert (Valerie), Sarah Covert, Eric Covert (Beverly), Trish McDowell (Michael), Chandler Sullivan and Lara Sullivan, and his treasured great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his beloved bride Doris Covert, his parents, James and Leola Covert, brothers, James, John, Bill, Gene, and sisters, Leola, Lois, Audrey, and Carol.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 19th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with interment immediately following. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM Wednesday at the Thompson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.
