Obituary of Edna Corley Thompson

Lexington - Edna Corley Thompson, widow of George Monroe Thompson passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019.  Born in Lexington County, she was the daughter of the late Ottie Lee and Helen Scott Corley.  Services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Rd, West Columbia, SC.   Visitation will be at 11:00 am on Saturday in the fellowship hall at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church.  Pallbearers will be Don Hanna, Mike Simmons, Stephen Ivey, Jerry Richey, Tracy Montgomery and Terry Montgomery.

She was a long time member of Mt. Hebron and helped start some of the women's circles at the church.  She was a member and Past Matron of Chapter 271 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Daughters of the Nile, Arabi Temple #141.  Edna worked as a bookkeeper alongside Monroe in their business for 25 years.  They retired to enjoy working in their yard and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving is her daughter Kim Dunlap (David), grandson, Dennis King, Jr (Marie), great grandchildren, Ashton and Emma King, grandsons, Dustin and Dylan Dunlap, great grandson, Kai, sister Polly Kaminer of Austin, Texas and sisters-in-law Romell (Sis) Jones, Norma and Frances Thompson.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that were much loved by her.  She was predeceased by her sister, Betty Corley Snelling, sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Dave Thompson, brothers-in-in law, Thurmond (Bubba) and Willis Thompson, nephews Randy, Patrick and Josh Jones.

The family thanks Regency Southern Care Hospice, Ladonya, Gina, Tiffany, Cindy and Cathy for their care of Edna and the support they brought to the family.  Also much thanks and love to the family and friends that have been so supportive.
