Obituary of Dorothy Gene Simpson Williams

Dorothy Gene Simpson Williams, 80, of West Columbia, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019. Born in McCormick, SC on October 24, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Henry Pearson and Elizabeth Wideman Simpson. Dorothy loved spending time outside, and had a great passion for birds, flowers, and gardening. She enjoyed a rewarding career at Still Hopes Episcopal Home, where she retired after almost 25 years.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Kim Bremer (Roger) of Coppell, TX, Beth Cooper (Keith) of Lexington, SC, Wendy Sullivan of Lexington, SC, and Jane Brutto of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Rory, Maggie, Evan, Anna, Tara, and Scarlett; and great-grandchildren, Denver and Hayden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Martha Hamilton and Margaret Warren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, November 1, 2019 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home- West Columbia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service, beginning at 10am. Interment will follow in Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Abbeville, SC.
