Caroline Frick

Obituary of Caroline Frick

Eva Caroline Frick, 76, of Pomaria, SC passed away October 10, 2019.  She was born in Gilbert on February 10, 1943, the ninth of ten children to the late Horace Clayburn Amick and Eva Rosabelle Frick Amick.  Caroline graduated from Gilbert High School in 1961 and married her high school sweetheart, Ernest Leon Frick, Jr. on May 10, 1962. As a young woman, she sang with her siblings and performed at community events including local radio and television, and over the years she passed on her love of music to her children.  She was dedicated to her faith, her husband, her children, and the family water well drilling business, and she was legendary for her amazing fried chicken and uncanny ability to soothe fussy babies. Caroline had a passion for reading, family history, organic gardening, composting, and cooking and preserving wholesome food for her family.  She loved experimenting with food as medicine and brewed and fermented her own kombucha and garden produce. She took great joy in recommending home remedies and giving advice to those she cared about. She was an intense advocate for natural childbirth, midwifery, and doula support and pursued certification as a doula when her children were grown.  In her later years, Caroline developed her creative sewing and crochet skills and shared an amazing collection of handmade market bags and other projects with her children and grandchildren. She loaned her crochet hooks and yarn, and gave lessons to any who were willing to try. She was a champion of handmade, small batch anything and loved trips to the mountains for the beautiful views, local food, and the arts and crafts scene.

Caroline is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ernest Leon Frick, Jr.; her children, Hope Dawn Frick Lindholm (Tim), David Glen Frick (Cindy), Donna Eve Frick Gjesvold (Todd), Janet Carol Frick Smith (Mike), Mark Leon Frick (Wendi), Wanda Lynette Frick Bradford (Tracy), Linda Gayle Frick Zavocki (Steve); 25 grandchildren, Andrew Lindholm, Chantal Lindholm, Hannah Lindholm, Nadia Lindholm, Evan Gjesvold, Serena Gjesvold, Sterling Gjesvold, Maura Gjesvold, Grant Smith, Kyle Smith, Emma Smith, Aleah Smith, Julia Frick, Clay Frick, Cole Frick, Joy Frick, Alahni Bradford, Satara Bradford, Thavyn Bradford, Shanan Zavocki, Alyssa Zavocki, Genna Zavocki, Jake Zavocki, Katie Zavocki, and Zane Zavocki; sisters, Ann Amick Adams (Marvin) and Martha Amick; brothers, Robert Amick, Bruce Amick (Bobbie), and Hayward Amick; a sister-in-law, Annie Eloise Frick Richardson (Lewis); and many nieces and nephews.  Caroline is preceded in death by her sister Frances Amick Davis, and brothers Hubert Amick, Thomas Amick, and Ray Amick.
