Obituary of Charles Lindburg Sheaffer, Jr

Charlie L.Sheaffer, Jr., 71, of Sandy Run, SC passed peacefully, August 28, 2019. He was born April 8, 1948, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Charles L. Sheaffer, Sr., and the late Jewel Velma Sox.

Charlie was a graduate of Brookland Cayce High School. Charlie had a long career as an electrician at Shealy Electric Company in Cayce, SC and retired from Overhead Door in Columbia, SC. He was known for his warm nature, willingness to always help those in need and bringing family, friends and community together to celebrate any occasion with a cook out.  Charlie was an active member of the Sandy Run Volunteer Fire Department. 

Charlie is predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 48 years, Adah “Lee” Sheaffer.  He is also predeceased by his father, Charles L. Sheaffer, Sr.; mother, Jewel Velma Sheaffer; and brother, Eddie Sheaffer. He is survived by his brother Robert (Cheryl) Shaffer, sister Jackie Ellis (Terry) and many nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to his extended family and caregivers, Richard Comer and Tracy and Tyler Whitten, Rebecca and Phillip Cobb as well as the Whitten Family. 

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Sandy Run Fire Department, 175 Old Sandy Run Road, Gaston, SC 29053.  A graveside memorial service will be held immediately following, at Lee and Charlie's home in Sandy Run at 36 Indian Trail, Swansea, SC with the Reverend Emeritus, Robbie Sox, officiating. The family invites friends and family to join them immediately after the service at the Sandy Run Fire Department, 175 Old Sandy Run Road, Gaston, SC 29053, for a meal and celebration of Charlie’s life.
