Obituary of Donald Ray Thompson, Jr

Donald Ray Thompson, Jr, 51, husband of Sharon Jones Thompson, resident of Lugoff, passed away on August 27, 2019 at Providence Hospital Northeast.

Born March 17, 1968 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, he was the son of Melba Thompson O’Bryan and the Late Donald Ray Thompson, Sr. Donald was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School and JRMC School of Nursing. He was a compassionate, caring man to many people over his career as a Registered Nurse and was employed with Lexington Medical Center. He loved and served our country in the US Army and was a Gulf War veteran. Donald was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife, mother and step-father Dan O’Bryan are, one daughter, Kathleen Taylor (Darren) Mode of Gaffney, SC; one step-daughter, Krista (Kyle) Sandy of Pelion; four step-sons, James Brantley Bonnette of Columbia, Jeremy Walker of White Hall, AR, Christopher (Sheila) Walker of White Hall, AR and Joseph (Josie) Walker of Japan; one sister, Lola (Matt) Redmond; three step-sisters Adrian Harp, Jennifer Singleton and Danielle O’Bryan; nine grandchildren, Aiden, Ryker, Jonathan, Cohen, Kaylee, Callib, Autumn, Christopher and Mary.

Funeral services with military honors will be conducted 3 PM Saturday, August 31 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington with Chaplin Services from Lexington Medical Center officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 PM to 3 PM prior to the service.

The family suggests that those desiring to make memorials may do so to The American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Drive # 301, Cayce, SC 29033.
