Obituary of Stephen Joseph Podschelne

Stephen Podschelne, 70, of Cayce, SC passed on Thursday, July 25, 2019. He was born on March 23, 1949 to the late Helen and Lawrence Podschelne. After the completion of high school, Stephen joined the United States Air Force and South Carolina National Guard, and retired after 23 years of service, which included Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

He is survived by a son, two daughters, six sisters, four brothers, and three grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Podschelne.

Known to his grandchildren as “Too da loo”, Stephen was a handyman that did a lot of work for family, friends, and people in the community. He had a passion for trains that he shared with his kids and grandkids.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or the American Cancer Society.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Thursday, August 1 , 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Stephen will be laid to rest at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full Air Force Honors following the service at 1:00 pm.
