Obituary of Augusta M. Keen

Augusta “Gussie” M. Keen went to be with the Lord on May 29th, 2019 in West Columbia, South Carolina.  She was born May 20th, 1930 in Bagnell, Missouri to Charlie and Chloe Culver Rayl; but has lived in SC since 1968.  Gussie was happily married to the late John D. Keen Sr. for 62 years and a beloved mother to her six children.

Gussie is survived by her son, John Keen Jr. (Elaine); five daughters, Alice Hyland, Roberta MacAllister, Dolores Roberts (Wayne), Judy Walker (Terry) and Janet Mattingly.  She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one on the way.

Gussie was predeceased by her husband; son-in-law, Larry; and grandchildren, Aaron and Brent.

A gathering for family and friends will be on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 10:00-11:00am at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC.  Gussie’s funeral celebration will immediately follow the gathering time at 11:00am, also at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel. A committal service will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park following her funeral celebration.
