Obituary of Joseph W. Spires

Joseph "JW" W Spires,  60, of Hopkins , South Carolina  passed away January 23, 2019  at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital  Columbia , SC.   He was born on February 25, 1958  in Columbia, South Carolina  to the late Kirby and Bertha Spires .

JW loved his two daughters, he loved to cook, he had a big heart.  He made sure others were put before him.  JW loved gardening.  He was the eighth of nine children.  JW was a roofer for over 30 years and a jack of many trades. 

Joseph  is survived by April Spires, his two daughters, Hannah Spires and Maggie Spires, his siblings, KC (Myong Cha) Spires, Jerome "Rusty" (Nancy) Spires, David Spires, Timothy (Olivia) Spires, Brenda Huckaby, Ruth Spires, Jane Russell,  and Lawrence Spires and many nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn  on Saturday, February 2, 2019,  from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.   Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm.   Chaplin Matthew Coiner will be officiating. Due to the sudden death of Joseph, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the family for final expenses. 

Family will receive friends and family at 113 Hickory Knob Lane, Hopkins, SC following the funeral.
