Obituary of Marlene Jean Kimmel-Smith

Funeral Services for Marlene J. Kimmel-Smith, 65, of Leesville, will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Pastor Chuck Byrd will officiate. Pallbearers will be her sons, Kristofor and Klinton Hart, her step-son, Ronald Smith, son-in-law, Jeffery Murphy, Michael Jones, Mike Matthews.  Burial will follow the service in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, 310 Gator Road, Gaston, SC 29053. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.

Marlene passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018 at her home with her husband and a friend, Kayce, by her side. Born in Lepeer, MI, she was a daughter of the late Virgil Wood and Dawne Andrews Wood. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Marlene had retired from Blue Cross-Blue Shield of South Carolina as a Computer Analyst, and enjoyed technology, singing and karaoke. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Gaston for many years. Marlene loved and supported her children unconditionally.

Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Ronnie E. Smith; sons, Kristofor Wallace Hart; Klinton Wesley Hart; daughter, Nicole Smith-Murphy (Jeffery); step-son, Ronald Cleveland Smith (Jan); grandchildren, Sabrina Jean and Kristy Lynn, Nicholas Evan, Peyton Doris Marlene, Nathan Cole; step-grandchildren, Jessica, Desiree, Holley, Heather; several loving great-grandchildren; and a large and loving extended family.
