Obituary of Samuel T. Hanvey, Jr.

Samuel T. Hanvey, Jr., 61, of Columbia, passed away June 11, 2018. He was born on June 27, 1956 in Columbia, SC to Samuel T. Hanvey, Sr. and Betty Jean Robertson.

Sam loved with a love so endless and full. He was known for his positive attitude and infectious smile that could light up a room. He loved spending his Saturdays with family or on the baseball field, he was an avid golfer, and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Sam loved his family but his grandchildren were the light of his life. Sam will be greatly missed and his legacy will never be forgotten.

Sam is survived by is mother, Betty Jean Hanvey; his fiancé, Janice Bradford of Columbia, SC; a daughter, Dana Cottrell (Jason) of Lexington, SC; a son, Justin Hanvey (Cassie) of West Columbia; five grandchildren, Taylor, Ethan, Cannon and Braiden Cottrell and Olivia Hanvey; one sister, Theresa Hanvey; and two brothers, Mike Hanvey and Steve Hanvey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel T. Hanvey, Sr. and his son, Samuel Thomas (Trey) Hanvey, III.

The family will receive friends at North Trenholm Baptist Church on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 6 - 8 p.m. A memorial service will be at North Trenholm Baptist Church on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to South Carolina Association of Government Purchasing Officials (SCAGPO) in care of First Citizens Bank.
