Obituary of Margaret Moore Smith

Margaret Moore Smith, 86, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away July 22, 2018 surrounded by loving family. She was born on November 26, 1931 in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Jesse and Maebelle Lewis Moore. She graduated from Columbia Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and retired from South Carolina Department of Mental Health.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing and singing. Her biggest love was serving others, as she did throughout her life at church, Virginia Wingard.

Margaret is survived by her daughter of West Columbia, SC, Patti (Keith) Yates; grandson, John Creighton (Sarah) Yates of Myrtle Beach, SC; and great-grandsons, John Hampton Yates and Micheal Gorby; and sister, Marietta Lime of Defiance, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Herman Smith; 2 brothers, Eugene Moore and Jimmy Moore; and sister, Elma Heilman.

Mrs. Smith was very grateful for the love and support she received from her church family at Virginia Wingard.

The family will receive friends at Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. Funeral services will follow the visitation with Reverend Scott Smoak officiating.
