Obituary of Hugo Manuel Martins Nicolau

Hugo Manuel Martins Nicolau, 43, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away on April 3, 2018 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on November 29, 1974 in the Azores, Portugal to Gualberto and Maria Farias Nicolau. Hugo loved doing anything outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Hugo was known as a skilled artist throughout his life. Hugo enjoyed spending time with his son Carson, whom he loved dearly.  He was at his happiest with gatherings of those close to him and was quick to tell a joke.

Hugo is survived by his parents, Gualberto M. Nicolau and Maria M. Nicolau; 1 son, Carson Reid Nicolau; 2 sisters, Liz N. Still (Greg), Diane M. Johnson (Jesse); and 1 brother, Gilbert M. Nicolau (Bev); 3 nieces, Caroline and Riley Still, Lydia Johnson; 2 nephews, Parker Nicolau, Alex Johnson; and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
