Obituary of Mary Caughman Jones

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mary Ernestine Caughman Jones, 91, of Columbia will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4p.m. until 6p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Capital Improvement Fund at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church or to a charity of one?s choice in Mary?s memory. Mrs. Jones departed this earthly life on Thursday, January 6, 2011. She was born in Lee County, South Carolina to the late Bernard Frank Caughman and Mary Alice Ross Caughman. Mrs. Jones was a charter member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Marshall Sunday School Class. Mrs. Jones was also a member of the South Carolina Starcraft Club for 35 years. Mrs. Jones truly enjoyed working with the children at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church Pre-School, as well as nurturing children in her home. Mrs. Jones was predeceased by her husband, James Clinton ?J.C.? Jones; her son, James Benjamin ?Bennie? Jones; and her siblings, Louise, Mazzie, Frank, Tom, Herbert, Raymond, and Juanita. Surviving are her son, Jerry C. Jones and his wife Beverly of Elizabethtown, NC; a devoted daughter-in-law, Martha Jones of Hopkins, SC; grandchildren, Wendy Jones, Jimmie Jones, Charles Jones, and Roxane (Lee) Carberry; 1 great-grandchild, Gage Swink; and host of other loving relatives and friends that will miss her dearly. Special thanks is extended to the staff of Countrywood Nursing Home in Hopkins, S.C. for their 5 years of dedicated care and support of our loved one, Mrs. Mary C. Jones.
