Susan Ashmore Ellison posted a condolence
Saturday, March 3, 2018
When B.J. telephoned us, both Ronnie & I were so very saddened to be told of your mama's passing. Mary Gussie was like "another mother" to me. The memories are forever ours, but one I'll always treasure is how both our mom's constantly "talked about" THEIR SUSAN(S) !! Both YOUR Susan and I, were forever "challenging" our mamas, it seemed to us !!!!
The days of "The Herd" will reign forever ... the parties, the dances, the get- togethers for Clemson-Carolina ballgames, Kentucky Derby runnings, EVERY New Year's Eve & whatever else they could think of !!!! Remembering that "Gussie & Jim" were ALWAYS "colored co-ordinated in whatever she selected that THEY wear !!!! Most of the time blue, and boy .... would those beautiful eyes of her's "pop" !
I (we) loved her, so. BJ and I would visit whenever I came down to Columbia & I knew that time was going to be sooner than we'd like ... but I know this; Mary Gussie was ready.
She loved you all so much & talked about all of you ... all the time. Keeping us posted on the latest news of each one's "comings & goings". She was SO very proud of her entire family. So, so proud.
She will be missed, but the memories are ours, forever. Remember my B.J., as she is well aware of the passing of time. Last year she lost Jency ... this year Mary Gussie. She's grieving, but seems content that her dear friend is no longer suffering. They were friends for over 40 years.
God's Blessing on all of you ...
Susan (Ashmore) Ellison (Mrs. Ronald)
