Obituary of Ethel Luvenia Kaiser Jackson

Lexington—Luvenia (Vennie as she was known by many friends and family), departed her earthly home and entered her eternal home on March 1, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She first was diagnosed and treated with breast cancer in 2002. She was a fourteen year survivor when it reappeared in 2016. Despite all of the efforts of the doctors and thousands of prayers, she finally found rest and comfort with Jesus. Luvenia was the oldest child of Robert and Ida Kaiser; born October 4, 1944 in Columbia, SC. She was raised in the Calhoun County Community of Sandy Run. Luvenia was a 1962 graduate of Saint Matthews High School and a life member of Sandy Run Lutheran Church. Luvenia went to work at the SC Highway Department, after High School graduation. She met her husband, Charles Jackson and they married in 1964. When she became pregnant with their first child, she left the Highway Department and began her career as a full-time homemaker. During her career she touched the lives of hundreds of people: raising five children, caring for over 20 foster children over a 12 year period and caring for at least 14 plus children in her home over a period of time allowing the parents the chance to work. She was an excellent seamstress, making and altering clothes for herself; the children as well as for friends and family. She took great pride in being a homemaker and having the opportunity to touch the lives of so many people over the years. Luvenia is survived by her husband, Charles Jackson; a son, Albert (Terry) Jackson; and four daughters, Vickie (Tim) Spires of West Columbia, Lena Jackson of Leesville, Tammy Jackson of Lexington and Judy (Eric) Ryerson of Lexington. She is survived by the heart strings of her life 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and her mother, Ida Kaiser. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert Kaiser, Jr. of West Columbia and Henry Kaiser of Gaston; two sisters, Doris (Henry) Herlong of Gaston and Mary (Mike) Williams of Springdale; and countless nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Kaiser, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kaiser and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hallie Phipps. Her love, caring and kindness will be missed greatly by all who knew her. She believed that what a person does with their lives determines the quality of their lives. The family wishes to thank so many that it is impossible to name all of them. She was lifted up on prayer lists across the country. A special thanks to Dr. Kudrik and his staff at SCOA, Lexington Hospital infusion staff, and the staff at MSA Hospice. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Sandy Run Lutheran Church in Swansea. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
