Obituary of Malik Goodwin

Malik Abdullah Goodwin, 30, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 in Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on April 4, 1985 in San Francisco, California to Vergeena McCrary Goodwin and the late Dr. Ernest E. Goodwin. He was kind hearted, loving and a very hard worker with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his family, especially his daughter. He loved outdoor cooking and was very talented with his grill and smoker. He was very close with his late father, and stood as the example of what a good man and father should be. His generous nature will be missed by those that loved him. Malik is survived by his mother, Vergeena (McCrary) Goodwin; a daughter, Brionna Goodwin; sisters, Thuy Goodwin, Ivonne Goodwin and Alberta Goodwin; brothers, Terry Goodwin and Qaa'im Goodwin (Katy). Malik is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Ernest E. Goodwin. A celebration of life will be held at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. The interment will be private.
