Obituary of Russ Rufus Ledford

A memorial service for Russell "Russ " Rufus Ledford, Jr., 89 of West Columbia, will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor John D. White will officiate. Mr. Ledford, Jr. passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015. Born in Hollywood, Florida he was the son of the late Russell and Rella McMullin Ledford. Russ was a gentlemen who loved life and was a hard worker. He and his wife, Peggy owned and operated Trasco Inc. for 25 years before his retirement in 1995. Mr. Ledford and his wife later started the Creative Sewing Machine Center in Triangle City of West Columbia. He was a US Navy Veteran having served in WWII. Russ will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather "Poppa". Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Peggy Ledford; daughter, Diana Pounds (Daniel) and son, Russell "Rusty" Rufus Ledford, III; Also surviving are his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
