Obituary of Nancy Rachael Saylor

Saturday, August 1, 2015 Nancy Rachael Saylor went home to be with her Lord surrounded by her immediate family. Nancy was born on October 19, 1966 in Columbia. She is the daughter of Thurmond Cleo and Merle Wise Saylor of Cayce. Nancy is also survived by her sisters, Jeannie L. Saylor and Mona E. Saylor of Cayce. Nancy was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Hoyt and Inez Saylor; maternal grandparents, Oscar D. Wise and Wallace C. and Thelma Wise Williams; aunt, Helen W. Berry; uncles, James E. Berry, Wayne D. Wise and Rollin H. Saylor. She was also predeceased by cousins, Adriene, Russell and Robbie. Nancy was the jewel of our family and will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel officiated by Reverend Joseph James and Reverend W. Allen Williams. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the funeral home. The family will be at the home accepting visitors at other times. Pallbearers will be her beloved cousins, Frankie, Keith, Mike, Randall, Forrest and Duane. Nancy was a lifetime member of Cayce United Methodist Church, where she taught 3 year old Sunday School for over 20 years. Nancy taught this class until her health would no longer allow her to do so. She graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School in 1984. She also received her Graphics Design Degree from Midlands Technical College. Nancy was a lover of people and made friends wherever she went. She loved crocheting, needlepoint, playing games and doing puzzles on her i-pad. Nancy made beautiful afghans and she loved to surprise her family or her friends with them as a gift. We would like to thank Nancy's aide, Linda W. Samuels, for providing loving care for over 2 years. Linda became a part of our family. We are also grateful to Gentiva Home Health for sending nurses, Joy and Amanda, who provided wonderful care for Nancy. We would like to say a very special thank you to the nurses and other staff of the IICU of Lexington Medical Center for providing comforting care during the last days of Nancy's life. Memorials may be made to the building fund of Cayce United Methodist Church, 1600 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033.
