Obituary of Virgil Lee Duke

Virgil Lee Duke, Sr, 77, of Pelion, husband of Marie "Jeannie" Jeffcoat Duke, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015. He was born on May 8, 1938 in Eva, Alabama to the late James Amos and Mettie Needham Duke. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Salley, SC. Mr. Duke worked for Fluor Daniel Construction Company as a welder for over 27 years. Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years; two sons, James Wylie Duke (Debra) and Virgil Lee Duke, Jr. (Jennifer); two daughters, Donna Jeannette Beck (Chris) and Beverley Menendez (Roy); two sisters, Mozelle Thomas and Vonda Lee Wood; twelve grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Wynell Holloway. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church, 130 Berlin Road, Salley, SC 29137. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
