Obituary of Julian Asa Galloway

Julian Asa Galloway, 81, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015. He was born in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Henry and Elizabeth Lloyd Galloway. After graduating from Brookland Cayce High School, Mr. Galloway served 23 years in the US Navy retiring in 1975 as a Lieutenant Commander. He also retired from AT&T after an extensive career in Mesquite, TX. Julian was a devoted husband and had one true passion and one true love in his life, which was his wife. The bond they shared lasted six decades and he passed away holding her hand. Our father had one great passion and love in his life and that was our mother, Bracie. They had a love that overcame all obstacles and endured for over sixty years. He had a twinkle in his eye whenever our mom was near. She was his purpose for living and his reason for loving. He loved her more the day he left her side as the day they met. Mom and dad were special- so different, but so incredible together. He called her "Bear" as long as memory serves us. He loved his "Bear." We didn't have the chance, as their children, to see them hold hands the first time, but we were there to see them hold hands the final time and neither wanted to let each other go. Mom will forever keep him alive in her heart and Dad is in heaven watching over his cherished "Bear." Julian is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bracie J. Rogers Galloway; son, Mark S. Galloway of Atlanta; daughter, Shannon L. Galloway of Lexington; and Grandson Dalton Blake Galloway of Lexington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Ju-Lan Galloway. The family will receive guests from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home on Augusta Hwy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Kittiwake Baptist Church, 420 Kittiwake Drive, W. Columbia, SC. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Reverend Dr. Timothy Sieberhagen, Pastor Ken Stafford and Reverend Gary Farmer.
