Obituary of Edna Martin Poe

Edna Etta Jeanette (Martin) Poe, 81, of Columbia, went home to be with the Lord, August 20, 2015 at her residence. Born January 22, 1934 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Fletcher Randolph and Julia Ann (Campbell) Martin. A member of Beulah Baptist Church, for more than 15 years, Mrs. Poe had been actively involved in the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was also a former member of Capital View Baptist Church, as well as a member of the Love Sunday School Class for more than 40 years. Mrs. Poe loved the Lord and shared that love with her family. One of her greatest achievements was her family, including her marriage which she shared with her husband for more than 60 years. One of Mrs. Poe's joys in life was truly spending time with her family, especially the time they spent camping at various places throughout the country, but some of the destinations that stand out include; Cape Cod, MA; Alpena, MI; and Mackinac Island, MI. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Elizabeth "Dis," DeWitt, Nez, Mattie and Emma, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband, Olin C. Poe; children, Lavon (Sandy) Poe, Kerry (Wanda) Poe, Conrad (Jeani) Poe, and Sylvia (Brad) Babb; sister, Sarah Judd; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; as well many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Beulah Baptist Church, 9487 Garners Ferry Road, Hopkins, SC 29061, with Pastors Ken Addison and Cameron DeBrew officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M., on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
