Obituary of Edward E. Wilson

Edward E. Wilson, 85, of Hopkins, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, August 31, 2015 at the WJB Dorn VA Medical Center. Born November 5, 1929 in Richland County he was a son of the late Walter and Madonna Wilson. A veteran of the US Army, Mr. Wilson served actively during the Korean War. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, and was frequently visited by the Pastor and members of Lykesland Baptist Church through which Edward gave his life to Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings; and two sons-in-law, Jimmy Welch and Ronald Coleman, Jr. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 60 years, Thressia Wilson; two daughters, Janice Welch and Judy Coleman; three grandchildren, Tony and Chad Welch and Nicole Welch Bayne; eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 with Dr. Odell Belger officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour (1:00 to 2:00 P.M.) prior to the service at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will include Donnie Krofchick, Tim Wilson, Ronnie Wilson, Donavan Wilson, Melvin Wilson, Ron Ellen and Ralph Bowers. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions, in honor of Edward E. Wilson, to either Lykesland Baptist Church Quartet, 2712 Trotter Road, Hopkins, SC 29061 (The Lykesland Quartet is a singing group of church members who visit those who are physically unable to attend church); or you may send memorials to Project Josiah, c/o Chaplain Bobby Farmer, 601 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223 - Please make checks payable to TJRM (which is a charity that benefits wounded veterans from all eras).
