Obituary of Gordon L. Addy

LEXINGTON-Gordon L. Addy, Sr. passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 after a short battle with cancer in Lexington Medical Center. He was born on January 12, 1933 to the late James Wesley and Linnie Hall Addy. He was a self-employed Brick Mason, and a lifelong resident of Lexington. He loved his children, grands and great-grands. He found his greatest joy from fishing, raising worms and gardening. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joann Lewis Howard; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Addy; brother, Grady Hall; sisters, Bernice Addy Baxley, Jimmie E. Addy, Jewel Addy Lewis, Sandra Addy Wooten; and great-grandson, John Brady Addy. He is survived by his children, Gordon "Red" L. Addy, Jr., Teresa Addy-Haltiwanger (Wayne), Michael Wayne Addy (Joann); and step-son, Charles Grady Howard (Sue); 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Norman Addy. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Bethany Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne, Dale and Michael, Jr. Addy, Ricky Martin, Chad Geddings, Esteven Gomez, Ryan Harrison and David Frazier. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, 120 Community Drive, Lexington, SC 29073 or Bethany Lutheran Church, 720 Bethany Church Road, Lexington, SC 29073. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff on the 6th floor North Tower for the loving care they administered to our precious Daddy.
