Obituary of Cecile Kolb Davidson

Cecile Kolb Davidson, 85, of Sumter, departed this life on September 5, 2015 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She was born June 9, 1930 in Sumter, SC a daughter of the late Cecil G. and Elma (McLeod) Kolb. In addition to her parents, Cecile was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth (Kolb) Shaw, and a brother, James T. Kolb. She was a volunteer pianist and organist at several churches during her life. At age 51, Mrs. Davidson studied to be a Licensed Practical Nurse and graduated at the head of her class. She worked for several years at Palmetto Health Baptist, as well as at many physicians' offices prior to her retirement in 1993. She is survived by her husband of more than 58 years, Thomas Linwood Davidson; a daughter, Lynn D. Lawton (Kenneth), of Raleigh; two granddaughters, Kristen and Lindsay Lawton; brother, Marion Kolb (Emily); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, with Pastor Mark Hering officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour, prior to the service, at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
