Obituary of Donald T. Burriss

Dr. Donald T. Burriss A graveside service celebrating the life of Donald T. Burriss, 75, of Garden City Beach will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Dr. Burriss was born on February 14, 1940 in Anderson, SC to the late William T. and Sybil Burriss. Dr. Burriss is survived by his wife of 53 years, Irene; children, Robert Burriss, Lisa Hornyak (Christopher) and Holley Causey; five granddaughters, Kirsten Lawton, Brittany Tinsley (Toby), Morgan Burriss, Isabella Causey and Regan Causey; two great-granddaughters, Lilly and Ella Grace Tinsley; and two brothers, Mickey (Joyce) and Billy Mack (Randy) Burriss. Dr. Burriss was a graduate of Brookland Cayce High School, University of South Carolina, Columbia Graduate School of Bible and Missions, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also held a home builders license and electrical contractor's license and pastored two churches in Newberry and Lancaster, South Carolina. His lifelong passion was Christ; the conquering hero of Calvary. The family wishes to express their thanks to family and friends who have offered their help and prayers.
