Obituary of Joan Guillot

Joan Guillot, 83, of Columbia, SC passed away September 10, 2015 at Providence Hospital Columbia, South Carolina. She was born on June 12, 1932 in, Belmont NC to the late Edgar and Flora (Holt) Ferris. A proud US Army veteran, she faithfully served as a dental hygienist. After her military service she worked for the civilian sector in the dental field. She was a woman of strong faith, she was a kind and gentle woman that was generous to a fault. Joan would help those around her not only with her time but with her talents. She enjoyed working with her hands and created wonderful ceramics for a time. Joan was a great cook. She spent 10 years working at Fort Jackson Army Post as a baker of pies and pastries. Joan most loved her family and could not wait for any time they could gather together. She loved to travel. Her and her late husband crossed the county exploring our great country and visiting family. Joan very much enjoyed her yearly visits to Louisiana where she would indulge in the wonderful Cajun cuisine. She was a wonderful daughter that took care of her mother until she passed away. Her wonderful smile and beautiful blue eyes will be missed. Joan is survived by her brother; Wayne Ferris of York SC, and a sister; Peggy Byrd of Marietta, GA, nephews; Don Guillot (Debra) of Olympia, WA, Roland Guillot (Grace) of Orange, TX. She also leaves behind her cousins Carl E. Holt of Gastonia, NC and Myrna Crews of Orlando FL. Joan also leaved behind her companion and very special friend of 20 years Lewis Bullington of Columbia, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Ted Guillot.
